Step 1 Dance 2 Academy's October 2013 E - Newsletter We are thrilled with our first month of classes....finally we are settling in and we are absolutely loving the eagerness and energy from all our students. We want to make sure all students are grasping the technique, improving and above all, enjoying their class(es).   6 WEEK PILATES CLASS WITH MEGHAN HUNTER   Starting Saturday, October 5th, we will have certified Pilates Instructor Meghan Hunter instructing a 6 week session of Pilates. Class time: 11:30-12:30. Fee: $85.00 for 6 weeks. Come and join us for a full body strength class for an hour; toning, sculpting, and gaining flexibility. Please register in advance, registrations can be taken thru our website, via email, or over the phone. We are beyond thrilled to have Meghan instructing for 6 weeks, don't miss a chance to "sweat it out" in her class.   Contemporary Master Class w/ Michael Susten Saturday, October 26th,Michael Susten will be returning to S1D2 to instruct his genius contemporary teachings to our inter/adv dancers.     Over the summer, Michael has shown his choreography works at Jazz Dance World Congress and instructed at the renowned Broadway Dance Center. Master Class time: 2:30-4:30. Fee: $40.00  Sign up for Master Class will begin October 1st. *Dancers must be 9 yrs old. COME SUPPORT OUR TALENTED DANCERS AT THE KI FALL FESTIVAL, SATURDAY OCTOBER 26TH AT 12:30 AT CAMP WRIGHT!! OUR ADVANCED LEVEL STUDENTS WILL BE SHOWCASING SOME OF THEIR HARD WORK AND ENERGETIC MOVES TO CELEBRATE THE FALL SEASON RIGHT! Hope to See You There!! Halloween Week is October 24th through October 30th!!! We encourage all students to come to class(s) in a costume of their choice, as long as the costume is free flowing and doesn't cause a distraction!! We will be CLOSED October 31ST! HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Calling all dancers.....We will be attending JUMP Dance Convention in January in DC!!! Registering NOW...deadline is December 11th. After the 7th, it is late, and we will charge $10.00 per child on your account. If you are still interested in applying for the Automatic Withdraw we offer, let one of the office assistants know, and we will have you fill out a form. It's a more convenient, worry-free way of taking care of tuition each month. If you choose to pay through your email invoice, just look for the Intuit Payment and directly click on that link. And as always, we accept payments at the Studio with checks or cash as well! Spring Showcase Commitment Forms As you may be aware, we began handing out our Showcase Commitment Forms this week to all students. The purpose of the form is just to get a general idea on who out of each class is planning on participating in the upcoming Showcase this Spring. Please sign and have your child bring back the form no later than October 14th. If you were not given a form, please ask one of the office assistants. WIFI in Studio We gladly offer the ability for you as a patient parent to use our WIFI system while waiting for your child in our waiting rooms, however we ask that you kindly keep in mind that we have Office Assistants using at the same time in the studio. So, if you could kindly keep your usage to a minimum, and not download too much, it would be greatly appreciated!   We want to introduce, and extend a happy welcome to Kathy Dubel, our newest addition to the Step 1 Dance 2 Family. Kathy will be assisting in the office every Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings during classes. She is a wonderful asset to the studio, and we are excited for you all to get to know her!! On October 1st, we will be handing out our Spring Showcase Commitment Form. We are asking for parents to let us know if your child will or will not be performing in our 2 day showcase. All forms will be due NO LATER than October 14th!

Solo, Duo, Trio Auditions

Sunday, September 29th, 2013

at 2:00pm

All students planning to audition must be enrolled in 3 or more classes and must be 8 years of age or older (no exceptions). Students must come prepared; already dressed in the correct dance attire and have a 30 second dance routine with music ready, that they created,  to be performed in front of the judges. After students perform their routine, they will be shown 2 short combos that they must complete to see how quickly they process and perform choreography. Once all auditions have been completed, the judges will place the students either in a solo, duo, or trio based on age, abilities, and dance style. All students and their parents must sign a contract stating they intend to practice, and perform said dance at the Showcase in the Spring. All students will have choreography taught to them in a span of 5 lessons.

Welcome to Step 1 Dance 2 Academy September 2013 E-Newsletter   Welcome S1D2 New and Returning Students!!! We are ecstatic to be starting our 2013-2014 Studio Year in our new space!! We anticipate an incredibly successful, fun year while challenging our amazing students to their full potentials! Our goals are to help each student build confidence, self-esteem, strength, flexibility, and an appreciation for the art of dance and movement. S1D2 is a place of encouragement where students will learn and grow in movement, performance, and self-assurance. We are thrilled that all classes are really taking off, and we are eager to have so many new students, as well as our amazing returning students in class.  All CLASSES WILL BEGIN ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9th, and we still have a few students that need some paperwork signed before they can participate in class, so if you have yet to come in and sign off, please do so when you drop your child off. We are also doing a drawing that you can submit your name/phone number into, and have a chance to win a free 1 months tuition for one class, a free tutu, or a free S1D2 shirt. And if you have yet to receive a blue goody bag from one of the staff members, please feel free to grab one during the week. S1D2 Policies For 2013/2014 Dance Year Tuition- Dance tuition is due the 1st - 7th of EACH month, October-April. A late fee of $10.00 per child is automatically applied to each account that is paid after the 7th. A flat monthly tuition rate applies whether there is 3, 4, or 5 weeks in a month. Lessons will be suspended for accounts 60 days past due. We gladly accept Visa, Master, and Discover Cards, as well as checks, money orders, and cash. Cash payments should only be made at the studio so a receipt can be processed. Tuition payments are non-refundable. Returned Check/Non-Payment- All returned checks are subject to a $25 processing fee. This fee will automatically be applied to your account. Students will not be able to participate in class until balance is paid. Absentees- There is no adjustments for missed lessons. Please refer to our attendance policy for further information. Class Withdrawal- You are responsible for all aspects of class participation unless a class withdrawal form is received. Withdrawal forms are available in the waiting room. Open House and Registration

Join us for our second week of Open House and Registration; Monday through Thursday 4:30-7:30! Enroll and enter to win a free tutu, free S1D2 Shirt, and/or a free months tuition for one class!! 

Free Jazz and Contemporary Class this Wednesday, 5-6:00 (ages 5-8) and 6:15-7:30 (ages 9 and up)
